EMPOWERING PARENTS TO CREATE CHANGE
Parenting is challenging enough but when it involves raising children who are involved in sport the increased financial, logistical, and emotional demands can make it even more difficult to manage. The impact can extend to the whole family, with many parents struggling not only to make sense of the sporting experience but also having difficulty navigating the transitions for both themselves and their children.
At Cultiv8 Academy we have extensive knowledge and experience of sport parenting. We offer a range of support options and resources to help parents to navigate their journey and to clarify their role as a sport parent.
We work through a 4-Step Process with parents: Awareness, Acceptance, Education, Empowerment. During this process parents learn how to create better connections, developing interpersonal skills that enhance communication with their children and the coaches.
We help parents to understand the value and importance of providing choice for their children and support them in making adjustments to the environment which enables children to act responsibly and independently.
Parental attitudes, values, and belief systems are explored, helping parents to embrace the concept of challenge for both themselves and their children. By focusing on the development of coping strategies we help parents to be mindful about what they ‘model’ and how they interpret and respond to challenges within the home and sport environments.
Our over-arching aim is to help parents to become more connected and content within sport settings, so that they can enhance their children’s sporting experiences, engage positively, and ultimately enjoy their role as a sport parent.
